The Argungu International Fishing And Cultural Festival 2020, Kebbi – Nigeria

Preparatory to the Year 2020 Argungu International fishing and Festival, the Argungu Emirate Council has Inaugurated fifteen (15 ) Local Committees charged with responsibilities of making all necessary local arrangements leading to the successful hosting of the Fishing Festival.

The event which took place at Council Chambers of the Emir Of Argungu last Saturday had in attendance all well-meaning Sons and Daughters of the Emirate including Traditional Rulers and Council Members. In his inaugural speech ,the Emir Of Argungu, Alh Samaila Muhammad Mera CON announced that the main objective of constituting the Local Committees is not unconnected with his Councils dertermination and resolve to ensure a sustainable and hitch – Free Argungu Fishing Festival due to hold in March 2020.

The Emir also disclosed that as host Community , the people of the Emirate must give every support and co-operation to the Kebbi State Government in it’s determined efforts to re-invirorate the International Fiesta. Alh Samaila Muhammad Mera therefore described Argungu Fishing Festival as unique and outstanding and also the most widely attended Festival within and outside Nigeria and the oldest known Festival of it’s kind. He then called on all well to do individuals of the Emirate to contribute in whatever capacity they can to make the Festival a befitting and worthwhile event.

The Emir then urged inaugurated Local Committees to swing into action and ensure speedy execution of various assignments given to them.

Some of the inaugurated Local Committees are -:

The Main Organizing Committee headed by Alh Ibrahim Hasan Kwaido {Kundudan Kabi}, While Alh Nura Sani Kangiwa { Turakin Kabi} will serve as Secretary. The Grand Fishing Committee , Fisher Men Control Committee and Kabanci display Committee.

Others Are -:

Archery and Catapulting Committee,
Durbar and Contact Committee, Agric Fair Committee and Local Publicity Committee, with it’s Chairman as Alh Muhammad Musa Argungu { Tambarin Kabi }. Among Other Local Committees Set up By The Emirate Council.
