Silky Kola (Tula Kola) botanically known as Azanza Garckeana is a valuable, edible indigenous fruit widely distributed in Tula, Kaltungo Local Government Area of Gombe State and in Michika in Adamawa State, Nigeria.
It is a sweet and chewy nut often referred to as “African Chewing Gum” fruit which is believed to increase fertility in humans.
The Silky Kola is an indigenous fruit tree species semi-domesticated in Tula. It is socially and economically valuable in the Northern part of Nigeria and it is an important source of food among dwellers.
Nutritional Data
The pulp and seed are an important source of phytochemicals and minerals. Research has identified the components of this miracle fruit to include; alkaloids, amino acids, ascorbic acid, carotenoids, cyanogenic glucosides, and flavonoids.
Health Benefits-
Fertility Enhancer
Researchers have attested to the fact that the Silky Kola functions as a fertility enhancer which helps to minimize the dependence on synthetic drugs as a fertility-enhancer. The antibacterial, antifungal, antihyperglycemic, antimalarial, antioxidant and iron absorption properties in the fruit have made it widely recommended as such.
Boost Libido
It has been reported that the consumption of this fruit helps to develop a stronger desire for sexual intercourse (aphrodisiacs). To this effect, people experiencing low libido, as a result of stress and/or other health conditions, can leverage this fruit of value.
Vagina Lubrication
Goron Tula has also been recommended for women who find it hard to reach orgasm as it stimulates the production of vagina wetness and it’s perfect for keeping the vagina area moist and wet.
You can chew about 5-10 pieces to feel the effect (though it depends greatly on body type). Silky kola is also very effective in getting rid of bad odour coming from the vagina as it functions as a vagina cleanser.
Usage
The flesh of the fruit can be chewed raw, after extracting the seed or soak the fruits in a small amount of water to make jelly. Similarly, the same can be boiled and made into porridge.
