SA Liquor Delivery Company Increase Their Sales By 350% During Lockdown

The quick thinkers at Quench rolled with the punches when liquor was banned during lockdown – here’s how they thrived during prohibition.

When the government announced that the sale of liquor would be banned during lockdown, many businesses feared the worst. However, Quench – whose whole identity is based on bringing booze to the doorstep – decided it was a case of “adapt or die”. They’ve ended up doing the former in some style.

Co-founder and managing director Liam McCreedy says Quench re-engineered their app from an alcohol-centric business to a grocery delivery service. They have seen a significant spike in downloads and new active users since the launch of the new service.

You can get your Woolworths shopping delivered by Quench
The group now provides a same-day delivery service for Woolworths customers. You simply log into the app, do your online shop via Quench, and one of their drivers will bring the goods to you in a matter of hours.

The incredible turnaround has seen demand skyrocket, and their business is booming in this hostile economy. Their sales have increased by a whopping 350%, and they received over 1 200 new downloads in their first few days under a new identity. According to McCreedy, their service offers ‘peace of mind’ to customers in these sometimes terrifying times:

“Our service is simple, seamless and very convenient. Whilst the country is under lockdown, consumers are apprehensive to leave their homes and our contactless service provides them the peace of mind to order from the comfort of their couch! They can expect the same in-store prices and same-day delivery.”

It really has been a herculean effort from all those involved. The decision to take a leap of faith was risky, but ultimately, it’s paid off in a way that few could have predicted. For those of you considering the service, it’s worth noting:

All workers for quench are equipped with hand sanitiser, face masks and gloves. They deliver without making close contact.

They currently operate in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Somerset West, Paarl and George.
Their app can be downloaded from the Google Play and Apple App stores.
Deliveries are charged at a fixed rate of R60 per delivery. All items ordered will be charged by Woolworths’ pricing.
They are looking to bring their services to more locations in SA, and yes, once the booze is lifted, they will be delivering liquor once again to help us all quench our thirst.
