In Burkina Faso, the first solar panel production plant was inaugurated in the industrial zone of Kossodo. Owned by Faso Energy, it can produce 60 to 100 panels per day with an annual energy production capacity of 80 to 120 MW.
In Burkina Faso, the Prime Minister proceeded with the inauguration of the first factory to manufacture photovoltaic solar panels. The infrastructure located in the industrial zone of Kossodo cost 3 billion CFA francs ($ 5.3 million) and can produce 60 to 100 photovoltaic panels per year.
Equipment with a capacity of 260 to 330 watts gives the plant a production capacity of 80 to 120 MW per year. It belongs to the energy company Faso Energy and its production is intended for the Burkinabé and African market in general. “We manufacture these panels on site. We can see the production line inside the factory, the operators, the technicians who are there to make the panels. These panels meet European standards and are manufactured in Burkina Faso. We use the latest panel technology that we find on the market with a technology of 5 bus bars on the cells ”, affirms Sébastien Ouédraogo, the technical manager of the company.
The establishment of the plant has allowed the creation of 170 direct jobs and 1,200 indirect jobs according to the officials of Faso Energy. The panels used are approved by the National Agency for Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency, the quality control body of the Ministry of Energy.
